  1. From Ikov to Elkoy to Elorin: A Pre-EOC Legacy Returns — Launching August 14th For many RuneScape private server veterans, few lineages carry as much weight as the one now culminating in Elorin. The project's roots go back years, first known as Ikov, one of the defining names of the pre-EOC era. It built a reputation for an exceptionally well-engineered backend, polished combat systems, and highly accurate game mechanics — a tick system and overall gameplay feel that set a benchmark few servers ever matched, and one still cited by long-time players and developers as one of the strongest technical foundations in RSPS history. A Name Forced to Change Time and legal pressure eventually caught up with the project. The Discord server was hit with a copyright complaint over the Ikov name, forcing a rename. The project continued under the name Elkoy, though much of the original development team had already moved on by that point, and activity gradually slowed — leaving behind a loyal but increasingly quiet community. According to Zion, the developer now leading the project forward, Elkoy was, in their view, the best pre-EOC server there's ever been, and nothing has really matched it since. Rather than watch the community and its four years of continuous history (the original game launched in 2022, with a fresh world added in 2024) fade away, Zion has started building something new, inspired by what made the original great while pushing further in directions the team always wanted to go. Introducing Elorin That new project is Elorin, launching 14th August. Elorin isn't a recreation for its own sake — it's built by the same lineage of developers who shaped Ikov and Elkoy, aiming to preserve what made those servers memorable while modernising the experience with content and improvements that were always planned but never fully realised. Expect pre-EOC combat (special attacks, prayer flicking, the original triangle — no EOC abilities), mixed-revision content spanning RuneScape's golden era alongside OSRS staples, and custom bosses, raids, and zones built from scratch by the team. The vision is community-driven from day one: players are being invited to give feedback, suggest features, test new systems, and help shape the game's direction as it heads toward launch. Full rules are being posted in the official Discord as launch approaches. Why It Matters For veterans of Ikov and Elkoy, this is more than another RSPS launch — it's a chance to see one of the scene's most respected foundations, built up over years and carried through a forced rebrand, finally get the second life its community has been waiting for. A note on safety: the project has changed names more than once, and impersonator or phishing sites have circulated using similar branding in the past. The only official channels for this project are Elorin.org and the Discord linked above — never trust download links or account requests sent through in-game DMs or unofficial servers.
